Reviews
The staff and management are the worst I have ever seen.
Please just go somewhere else.
Overcharged for everything.
Rude and unhelpful.
Dirty and unwelcoming.
Rural dumb brain dead...
I will always remember how horrible you made my experience.
Thanks again.
5 day stay on a spacious powered camping site. Third generation of camping here, yes it's basic but kitchens/fridge/freezer/showers/toilets all worked. Incredible native birds, hot pool to soak in, close to beautiful beaches, Whakatane down the road for amenities if needed. The ground dealt very well with heavy rain! A mix of camp goers - so caters for all needs.
Recommended for a cheap camping spot with kiwi classic charm.
It's a nice location to stay, but im sorry the business needs to manage the noisy people at night and the kids having no respect for who is around yelling and screaming in the pool after 2130 hrs. And the loud swearing wow.
I would not stay again, sorry, until it's taken more care of.
There is no fire extinguisher in the kitchen either.
Sorry if it sounds bad, but it's just the truth from 2 nights here.
Our whanau have been camping here for the last 10 years we have been through cyclone cookie some yet years and some very hot years. We keep coming back as it is a quiet peaceful camping ground, and get to meet a vast array of people from all walks of life and different countries. The staff are fantastic to deal with, and have never had any issues with where we were camping. We had used the cabins initially, but prefer to "rough it" with the rest of the family. Yes it is an older camping ground, but if you want 5 star accommodation go to a motel. We have already booked for Easter next year, and are looking forward to the peaceful relaxing time away from city life
Run down and dirty.
I would save your time and keep driving. The facilities are so run down. The showers are disgusting. The grounds and power sites are not maintained. We watched multiple people try use the power sites but have to move as they were not working. The staff (children) at the reception are lazy and rude and absolutely no help. It’s loud, people coming and going playing music. The only bonus is the pool but even then I’d be concerned about the cleanliness. Don’t believe the “free wifi” as a selling point you get 10mb 🙃 may have been great back in it’s time but unfortunately it’s been let go.
Great value cabins with everything you need, nice hot pool that’s open early till late, and very welcoming staff. It’s old school accommodations so if you expect fancy or spotless you will be disappointed. BYO linens and you’re good to go. Thank you for the space heater as well, it made a world of difference!
You get what you pay for. Cabins - beds to sleep in, basic utilities and even a TV! Honestly we came here for the hot pools and it didn't disappoint. Pool is amazing especially @ night. The camping grounds it's self has a tuck shop and isn't too far away from Whakatane. Overall it's a pretty great place. You need a break and access to some hot pools would definitely recommend 👌
Won't be coming here again a dog was pissing around the swimming pool area where it states no dogs people doing drugs near the bbq area kids swearing running and bombing in the pools where is states no bombing in pools doesn't seem to be anyone keeping an eye on what's going on within the camp very disappointed showers barely run only thermal water comes out of hot showers. Run down.kids swinging on washing line parents swearing loud music no respect for other campers at all.
